Around Bowling Green with Leona + Belle Mariée

What gets me just about as happy as if I were a child on Christmas day?  Getting to look and feel designer clothing and if that said clothing is wedding dresses than I'm all the more giddy!

I'm so excited that Bowling Green now has it's very own couture bridal salon, Belle Mariée.  It's located on 31-W and is in the new Penn Station which is all modern and happenin'!  Some of the designers that they carry are Amsale Nouvelle, Heidi Elnora, Victor Harper (one of my favorites!), Emmy London, Monique Lhuillier and many more.  If you are a bride, or know one, definitely check Belle Mariée out and let the owner, Allison Edwards take ultra personal care of you.  Check out below for some wonderful pictures by Kelly Lee Flora and a fun chat I had with Allison.

LM – What is your business name and how long have you been open?

AE - Belle Mariée and we've been open since summer 2014.  I choose Belle Mariée as the name because I took French in high school and loved the romance of the language.  Belle Mariée means Beautiful Bride.

LM – What was your life like before what you do now?

AE - I worked in a small business with my dad and plenty of retail.

LM – What is the hardest part of managing a small business?

AE - Having to be strategic and sometimes conservative in marketing and finance.  There are so many things that I want to do but I have to remember that I can't do them all!

LM – What is your favorite part about what you do?

AE - Definitely building relationships with my brides.  We work one on one and they truly get an individualized service.  Their dress is most times the first thing they shop for and I feel honored to be a part of that emotional moment when they find 'the one'.

LM – If you could do any other job for a day what would it be?

AE - The same industry but I would be a designer in New York!

LM – What would you tell the younger version of you now that you know what you do?

AE - Well, my focus would have been different.  It took a few career changes to find my passion so I guess I'd say to follow your heart.

LM – What is your favorite part about Bowling Green?

AE - I grew up here so Bowling Green is my home.  There are many advantages for small businesses and Bowling Green is growing rapidly but the people here are still as friendly.  Inviting.

LM – Last but definitely not least, a gun is pointed at your head and you have to choose triple layer black forest cake with chocolate shavings, New York original cheesecake, or fruit?

AE - Fruit :)

Thanks Allison!

Cheers to pretty dresses!
